Jennifer's Poem

I Have Tried

I have tried my hardest to forget it,

However, it will not go away.

I made it into something else,

However, it will not go away.

I had to train it to be good when you walked into the room,

However, it will not go away.

I threw it in the face of someone else, praying it to disappear,

However, it will not go away.

I can make you believe it is not here,

However, it will not go away.

I played with different ideas in my senseless mind,

However, it will not go away.

I carried it with me in my damaged heart,

However, it will not go away.

I felt it when they look at me and pretend to care,

However, it will not go away.

I can’t make them see me, the real me,

However, it will not go away.

I want to give it to a stone, because stones cannot feel,

However, it will not go away.

I need you to understand that it will not fix itself.

I need you to know that it will not just go away because you do not think about it.

I need you to find a way to live with it and me.

Stop it.

Please.
