"You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should."

June 1997:

We were foster parents of the year for category "Cultural Sensitivity and Relevancy" for state of Washington. So we all got to go to reception & lunch with Governor Gary Locke and his wife Mona at state capitol. After buffet luncheon of finger sandwiches (watercress, etc.), pate & crackers, and little cookies, etc., Michael (then 8 & FAS) said to Gov, "Mr. President, the clowns were cool, but I thought we were supposed to have lunch." Gov says, "We did." Michael says, "You guys need cooking lessons. We should have had hotdogs & chips."
