FAS STAR MARIA

Maria at age 3

Maria with Papa, Mama, and Brothers

Maria was adopted at ten months of age by a Papa, Mama, and two brothers that all adore her. Maria is currently developmentally age appropriate, very loving, happy, very helpful, enjoys people and animals, and is tall and beautiful.

Maria's birth mother drank beer and other alcohol while carrying Maria in utero. Because of this, Maria was born with irreversible brain damage. Her brain is too small. She also has Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, learning disabilities, abnormal pain and fear responses, wall-eye, and short-term memory impairment. It is unknown if Maria will ever be able to live independently as an adult. All of these problems are part of a permanent disability called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is caused by women drinking any form of alcohol during pregnancy. No amount of alcohol is safe to be consumed during pregnancy.

Please pray for Maria's physical and mental health. Thank you and God bless!
