| Hi! My name is Alicia. I am 7 years old and I was born to a birth mom who couldn't take care of herself. She had a lot of problems with addictions and knew she couldn't take care of a baby, so she made an adoption plan for me. I was born with some breathing problems and was in NICU for two weeks. My foster mom was Sarah and she took GREAT care of me until my mom and dad could take me home. I came home at 5 1/2 weeks. I was a great baby. I slept A LOT. Sometimes, I would spike fevers up to 107 and go limp. That scared Mommy and Daddy. At 5 months old, I went to the hospital and got tubes in my ears, to stop all my ear infections. When I was 15 months old I started biting every one and everything in sight. Mom got me referred to EI who found mild global delays. I was able to catch up in two years, but I still had trouble keeping my feelings and impulses in check. I still do. I was just diagnosed with ADHD, and I am so happy to find out all my silliness and freshness is not all my fault! It's even harder because now I have a little brother. Matt was born from the same birth mom I was. His story is under his picture. We are 14 months apart. I love him alot. Sometimes I can't help but hurt him because I have angry feelings and he gets in my way. I am doing better with this. I know Matt has more problems than I do and it frustrates me. I also have a sleep disorder and I am up about 2-6 times a night. I am allergic to a lot of stuff, like milk and food coloring, and the doctor thinks I am hypoglycemic. That means if I don't eat my lunch I am really grumpy. I am cute and funny and I got to take Kindergarten TWICE! Now I am in the first grade and I am doing really well. I love my teacher because her class is very orgranized. I'd love to meet other kids my age with FAE who aren't into too much 'girlie' stuff. I also HATE dresses. And I love broccoli.( go figure!). |
